Man that weekend went by way too fast! Mine was low key as I’m still struggling with low mental energy and needed the extra self care. Sometimes you have to take time for yourself in order to get better and feel better. I took Friday off and it definitely helped. For those of you who are new to following, my self care involves a LOT of Netflix binge watching. This is not usually normal for me so you know I’m either physically sick or struggling mentally. This time it was the latter. I watched both seasons of Insecure (HBO), first season of Ozark (Netflix), The Fate of the Furious and a couple of seasons of Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown. There was probably more, but I can’t remember at the moment. Ha. Anyways, I finally ventured out into the wild and did some grocery shopping for Meal Prep Monday. I can’t believe I’m already on Volume 9. How the heck did that happen?! I kept meal prep pretty easy this week due to feeling unmotivated, but the food’s not gonna prepare itself!
If you don’t follow me on social media, you missed out on progress updates and the game called “Name a food you can’t stand that other people love.” I got some interesting answers…apparently people hate avocados, mayo, olives, popcorn, fish and a bunch more odd things that I actually like. Ha! My dislikes are: peas, olives (any kind), mushrooms, cantaloupe, plums, pudding and 90% of seafood (I do like crab, scallops and sushi, but once a year). Apparently food bloggers can be picky too. Come at me bro.
I also shared my monthly progress report. I will weigh, measure and take progress pictures once a month to see my progress. This is something that I’ve always done when losing weight because the scale doesn’t always show the full picture of what’s going on and since I’ve been weight lifting, I’m definitely not seeing much change on the scale versus in my clothes. The biggest changes so far have been in my hips, waist and boobs. Now tell me why the boobs always have to volunteer tribute when losing weight?! WHY?! (psst…I know the answer, it’s more of a rhetorical question. Boobs are just fat and when you lose fat, it melts off from wherever it wants to and doesn’t play favorites). The progress has been slow, but steady. I’m sure if I kicked it up a notch and worked out 4-5 days a week, I would be seeing faster progress. I only see Coach Clarence 2-3 times a week and I still can’t get myself to the gym without accountability from someone. Riddle me that people! <sigh> Eventually, I’ll get there.
Meal Prep Monday: Vol. 9
Anyways, back to this meal prep thing. This past week I did my grocery shopping at Sprout’s and spent a whopping $20.34 and made 16 meals. That comes out to $1.27 per meal. Probably the lowest I’ve spent on meal prep the past 9 weeks. Tryna get my frugal on. I bought: 3 avocados, 5 zucchini, 3 sweet potatoes, 3 limes, 4 tomatoes, cherries and coffee creamer. I normally don’t get soy creamer, but I couldn’t reach the creamer I normally get and I didn’t want to spend the time trying to find someone who could reach it for me. #shortgirlproblems #firstworldproblems
